Alexander Swoboda was appointed Professor of International Economics at the Graduate Institute of International Studies in 1969 and served as the director of the Institute between 1990 and 1998. In addition, he taught at the University of Geneva and served as board member and as the founding director of the Centre for Monetary and Banking Studies. From 1998 to 2000, Professor Swoboda was Senior Policy Advisor and Resident Scholar at the International Monetary Fund. In 1997 he was elected to the Council of the Swiss National Bank and in 2002, President of the Swiss Society for Economics and Statistics.
