Faculty member since 2003, Professor Chetail is Director of the Programme for the Study of Global Migration. He is also a Board Member of the Geneva Academy of International Humanitarian Law and Human Rights and, from 2004 to 2012, was the Research Director of the Geneva Academy.
Professor Chetail is Editor-in-Chief of Refugee Survey Quarterly, member of the founding editorial board of Oxford Bibliographies in International Law and General Editor of the series Organisation internationale et relations internationales (Bruylant, Brussels).
His main fields of research are related to public international law, human rights, migration and armed conflicts. He regularly serves as a consultant to governments, NGOs and international organisations and has been Visiting Professor at several universities (including the European University Institute – Florence in 2010, the Université libre de Bruxelles since 2008 and the University of Paris XI since 2006).
Vincent Chetail’s papers are available on the Social Science Research Network (SSRN).
Areas of expertise
His areas of research relate to refugee and migrant law, humanitarian law and human rights, international criminal law, and collective security and peace-keeping.
