What is the Use of Economics?
Amartya Sen Professor, Harvard University; Nobel Memorial Prize Laureate in Economic Sciences 1998
Professor Amartya Sen, one of the world’s most renowned and respected economists will give this Academic Year’s opening Lecture. Professor Sen is the author of numerous books which have been translated to more than 30 languages. His work has focused most notably on the causes of famine, inequality and poverty. The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) human development index was developed in part based on his research.
The World Trade Organization, neighbour and partner of the Graduate institute in many of its activities, has graciously agreed to provide its facilities for this event in order to accommodate a larger public.
