On Friday, 19 October, the Graduate Institute held the graduation ceremony for three of its Executive Education degree-granting programmes. Thirteen successful graduates received their diplomas from the first ever session of the Executive Certificate - Advocacy in International Affairs. The first edition of the Executive Master in Oil and Gas Leadership brought professionals from five different countries. The Executive Master in International Negotiation and Policy Making (INP) completed its fourth edition and had fifteen successful graduates.
The ceremony’s guest speaker, Mr Ricardo Espinosa of the United Nations Office at Geneva, invited the graduates to join the United Nations in its effort to create new public value by putting their creative minds and freshly acquired skills to work. Mr Espinosa congratulated the institute on its recent achievement of consultative status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council. Representatives from each of the programmes also spoke at the ceremony. Each discussed how the programmes will help advance their careers and emphasised the unique value of the friendships that emerged from the months of hard work toward obtaining their degrees.
It is the first time the Institute held a joint ceremony for several executive programmes. Professor Cédric Dupont, Director of Executive Education, said: “I am delighted to see the diversity of our graduates. This is strong proof of how we have evolved and expanded our Executive Programmes to meet professionals’ quests for new knowledge and their common objective to advance their careers. This diversity of participants and courses adds to the richness of the educational experience and helps build a strong alumni network”.
