"Joint Reflections on Migration and Development: A Symposium for Civil Society and Governments"
The Symposium offered a space for Swiss and International Civil Society and governments to brainstorm about the outcomes of the Global Forum on Migration and Development (GFMD) 2010, in Mexico, the connections between these and the thematic program for GFMD 2011 in Switzerland, the role of Civil Society in the GFMD, and how to build on the efforts of 2010 to strengthen interaction between Civil Society and governments in the GFMD 2011.   "The Intersection of Refugee Rights Law and Practice: A Conversation with Asylum Access Country Directors from Ecuador, Tanzania, and Thailand". The panel discussion with Asylum Access, an NGO that works in Asia, Latin America, and Africa to provide legal information, advice, and representation to refugees in their first countries of refuge and advocates for the rights of refugees worldwide. The discussion focused on how international refugee law pans out on the ground in Asylum Access offices in Ecuador, Tanzania, and Thailand. More info: flyer.
