The second event on 19 November at the Annual Forum on “Developing Research and Capacity Building in Global Health Diplomacy - different regional and country perspectives" attracted more than 150 participants. The panel assembled a number of highly distinguished researchers and policy makers worldwide. By using regional and national perspectives, the interdisciplinary nature of research and capacity building in global health diplomacy was highlighted. Health Minister Chen Zhu, People’s Republic of China, delivered a keynote address on “China’s Perspective on Global Health Diplomacy”, the first major pronouncement of this kind on the subject from a Chinese Governmental representative. Further distinguished speakers included, amongst others, Dr. Anthony Mbewu, current President of the South African Medical Research Council and Executive-Director-elect of the Global Forum for Health Research.
