Research

CIES has several active research projects being undertaken by staff members and students at the Graduate Institute. The Centre gives priority to projects at the frontiers of academic research on environmental issues, with an emphasis on international dimensions.

Most of these projects are externally funded with support coming from the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNF), the Swiss Network for International Studies (SNIS) and the European Commission's Research and Innovation Directorate, through Seventh Framework Programme (FP7) projects. Furthermore, projects often involve a wide range of partners both within Europe and from other regions of the world.

Projects are organised into one of the Centre's research programmes.
