CIES was established in 2010 for the purpose of developing political, legal and economic discourse on problems related to the global environment. It is dedicated to the better understanding of the social, economic and political facets of global problems related to the environment.
EXTENSION OF GRANT AWARDED FOR PROJECT 'GOVERNANCE ENTREPRENEURS: INTERNATIONAL ORGANISATIONS AND PRIVATE-PUBLIC PARTNERSHIPS'
The Swiss National Science Foundation recently awarded a grant for the continuation of Professor Liliana B. Andonova's book-length project "Governance Entrepreneurs: International Organisations and Public-Private Partnerships". The project analyses the rise of global public-private partnerships and how it influences change in global governance. More.
LECTure by achim steiner at the graduate institute
On May 8th, UNEP Executive Director Achim Steiner delivered a lecture at the Graduate Institute, in the Geneva Dialogues series organised by CIES. Mr. Steiner reflected on developments in international environmental affairs since the Rio+20 conference of 2012, placing this in a longer term perspective and highlighting the triple helix as a conceptual tool for tying together the economic, social and environmental dimensions of sustainable development.
